  • Two is Better Than One

    For starters, when you learn a language, you don’t just learn its vocabulary and syntax. You also learn about their culture and history, so, in that sense, you’re already more knowledgeable than you were before. Plus, learning a new language also involves problem solving, which, for kids, is essential to help develop their growing brains. Put simply and crudely, bilingual kids just have better-developed brains.

    Increase cultural awareness.

    Learning a foreign language can also lead to discovering a new country, new cuisine, new social relationships and more! You probably don’t realise it, but being in contact with a new culture changes you profoundly. By having a new relationship with the world, you develop an “intercultural know-how” that few people have and of which you can be proud. Language learning can inspire tolerance, open-mindedness and understanding – which is key in a world becoming increasingly globalised!

  • We teach Mandarin Chinese, the official language of China and is spoken by the majority of the Chinese population. It is also one of the official languages of Singapore and Taiwan.

    As for Cantonese , this is primarily spoken in the Guangdong province of China, Hong Kong, and Macau. It is also spoken by many overseas Chinese communities. However, we can assist learners who speak Cantonese to learn Mandarin by our cantonese teacher.

    至于粤语,主要在中国的广东省、香港和澳门地区使用。它也被许多海外华人社区使用。然而,我们可以通过我们的粤语教师帮助会说粤语的学习者学习普通话。

  • Many parents around us often complain that they were initially concerned about their child falling behind in English after starting school, so they focused heavily on their child's English learning from an early age, but neglected or missed the optimal time for their child to learn Chinese. Some parents also mentioned that their child intermittently attended Chinese tutoring classes before and could manage simple communication, but as they reached the sixth or seventh grade and faced the demands of schoolwork, they gradually forgot the basic communication skills and characters they had previously learned.

    If a child establishes a strong foundation in Chinese listening and speaking skills from an early age, while also developing good reading and writing abilities, learning Chinese becomes much more efficient. Once the foundational stage is missed, learning Chinese becomes more challenging.

    如果孩子从小打下良好的中文听力和口语基础,培养好的读、写的能力,那么学习中文就会事半功倍。错过了打基础的阶段,再学中文就比较困难。

    Learning Pinyin is an important component of enhancing Chinese language proficiency as it helps children better understand and use the pronunciation of Chinese characters.

    Super Mandarin introduces Pinyin gradually, assisting learners in recognising the distinct phonemes in the Chinese Pinyin system compared to English, enabling children to gradually develop understanding and mastery of both language systems.

    We encourage students not to overly rely on Pinyin to avoid hindering their learning of Chinese characters.

    In terms of character recognition, we follow the requirements of the WA Curriculum guidelines and optimise the amount of character learning based on each child's individual foundation and needs.
